Sorting things out with an autistic wife
From ThiefCitron on Reddit
I feel like almost everyone who's gotten desperate enough to post to Reddit for advice has already tried talking to their partner many, many times.
I mean the top comments will always be all "talk to them" and usually the OP will respond and be like "yeah we've already had 1,000 conversations about this and nothing has changed."
I think they just don't bother to mention it in the post because it should be assumed they already did that, because honestly how stupid would you have to be to not try that first?
In reality, it almost never works. I've never had a relationship problem that was solved with communication, the result is always just the person being like "I don't care and I refuse to change" or maybe "sorry I'll do better" but nothing changes.
Me, I agree with ThiefCitron - I've asked my soon to be ex wife a thousand times to "please stop doing that" or "if you could do this a bit more" and she will, for a few days, maybe a week or two, a month or so tops... Then it's back to normal static responses and the behaviour returns.
