Desktop Magonel Kit / Model

The desktop mangonel kit / model is a fully functioning medievil artillery weapon. It's throwing arm measures 65mm. The base is 100mm long by 60mm wide by 50m high. The range of this device is entirely dependent on the torsion material used in the string bundle. With cotton thread it will fire a .5 gram projectile about 1 meter quite accurately. With rabbit sinew (dried and split rear leg tendon) it will fire the same projectile twice the distance.

Construction is of pine or balsa, we would reccomend those with little or no model building experience should first try the balsa wood version. Balsa is very soft and can easily be worked with kitchen knives and steel bradles.

Things you will need to build this kit:

• Sewing Pins.
• Electrical Tape.
• Thin string.
• Wood glue.
• Thin card.

This kit comprises of all the required lengths of wood, steel pins, release hooks, instructions and a template for the pouch.
